ENL Welcome CMC Electronics as WASSP Distributors in Canada 20 May 08
Electronic Navigation Ltd has recently appointed CMC Electronics Inc as their exclusive Distributor of the WASSP Multibeam Sonar to the Canadian commercial fishing industry.
Several orders for the WASSP Multi-beam Sonar, WMB-160F, have already been secured after ENL promoting it for the first time at the 2008 Fish Canada Expo in New Brunswick.
“We are looking forward to working with CMC, as the WASSP Sonar will offer the Canadian East Coast lobster fishermen an unparalleled level of detail about the sea floor. They will be able to profile their fishing grounds very quickly and economically due to WASSP’s wide, 120-degree coverage,”.
“Our Research and Development team have spent considerable time developing the WASSP software to be as user-friendly as possible. Most functions are controlled via a mouse and the system does not require significant training to use effectively.”
William Coady, General Manager of CMC Electronics, is enthusiastic about the product.
“CMC is very pleased to introduce this technology to the Canadian fishing industry, especially for the efficiencies it brings during this time of rising fuel costs and environmental concerns,” said Coady.
ENL have designed WASSP to produce a wide, 120-degree swath from port to starboard to accurately profile the seafloor and water column. The swath is comprised of 112 dynamic beams, which are stabilised with the addition of a motion sensor.
The WASSP Multibeam Sonar comprises a transducer that is normally hull mounted, a transceiver box, a compact PC with software and a suitable LCD display. It interfaces with a satellite compass to provide position, heading and pitch and roll stabilisation.
CMC Electronics offers an extensive line of professional equipment and operates coast-to-coast through eight company locations and an extensive dealer network.
CMC is a wholly owned subsidiary of Esterline Corporation, a specialised aerospace and defence company based in Bellevue, Washington, USA.
